Branches
Switch, create, rename and delete a workspace's branches from one page of the command palette.
Where Terminal dock › Branch
1 min read
How it works
- Open the branches page: the branch tile on a running terminal's dock, the branch button at the head of the git view, or Git: Branches in the command palette.
- The page lists the branches with the current one marked. Type to search them.
- Pick Create new branch..., type its name and press Enter. Origami creates the branch and switches to it.
- Pick any branch for Switch to branch, Rename branch or Delete branch.
Good to know
- Delete branch asks first. A branch with commits that were never merged asks again before it is force deleted.
- The current branch cannot be deleted.
- A branch checked out in another worktree is greyed out. Switch that worktree to another branch, or remove it, to free this one.
- The dock's branch tile is there on the main stage only, and only while the workspace's folder is a repository.
