Scratchpad

A page of notes for each workspace, kept in Sidetrack beside your work.

Where Sidetrack › + › Scratchpad Agents use it 1 min read

How it works

  1. Open Sidetrack, press + and pick Scratchpad under Widgets.
  2. Type. Markdown is drawn as you write it: a heading, a checkbox to tick or a block of code.
  3. What you type is saved with the workspace as you go, so each workspace has its own pad.
  4. Ask an agent to note something down or read your notes, and it uses the pad through the MCP server.

Good to know

  • An agent can add to the pad or change part of it, but never replace or empty all of it.
  • Anything you typed is saved before an agent's edit is applied, and the pad on screen shows the change at once.
  • Every agent edit is a Scratchpad edited row in the Agent trail, with a button that opens the pad.
  • The scratchpad is your own notes, so it is left out when workspaces are exported.
