Rewind

Say one of your messages again from where it was, with the files put back if you want.

Where Loop › Your message › Edit from here 1 min read

How it works

  1. At the end of every turn, what it changed is shown as a tree of folders and files with their lines, and a file opens to its diff. Review opens the git view.
  2. Point at one of your messages and press the pencil, Edit from here, while nothing is running. Its words and attachments go back into the box, and everything after it goes quiet.
  3. Turn on Restore files at the top of the box to also put the files back to how they were before that message.
  4. Send. The conversation, the agent's memory and, if you chose it, the files go back to that point, and your new words are sent.

Good to know

  • In a git repository, a turn's changes are read off the folder, so what a command or a script changed is included, and Restore files is offered. Origami keeps its checkpoints apart from your branches and staging.
  • Outside a repository, a turn's changes are only the edits the agent says it made.
  • Claude Code forgets from that message in the same session. Codex and GitHub Copilot start a new session, told what was said before it.
  • Press Esc, or the cross at the top of the box, to cancel.
